In te reo M膩ori, the kupu (word) 鈥榯奴hono鈥 means to connect or join. Over the course of six meetings, the T奴hono programme connects students from a diverse range of nationalities and cultures. Not only is this a great opportunity to meet new people, but the programme is designed to help you develop your cultural intelligence (CQ).聽
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is a person's capability to function effectively in culturally diverse situations. Graduates today will inevitably work in culturally diverse organisations and teams. Cultural diversity is associated with increased opportunities for innovation and other benefits, but also greater potential for misunderstanding and associated challenges; therefore, it is essential that students develop the capability to function effectively in culturally diverse situations.

It鈥檚 one thing to learn about cultures from the internet, but it鈥檚 another to actually talk and engage with people in real life. T奴hono creates a casual environment to have open discussion about cultural differences and similarities. No matter what your career pathway is, in our globally connected world, it is important to be able to work with people from all countries effectively. T奴hono does not require a huge amount of time and is also a great opportunity to make lots of new friends."
