The functions of the advisory board:
- To help the 成人大片 develop a deep understanding of and maintain a strong commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- To contribute on the appropriateness of relevant sections of the Strategic Plan, profile and Council policies in terms of the university鈥檚 aspirations to partner with M膩ori and support M膩ori development.
- To advise on the progress and achievements of the university towards its strategic objectives for M膩ori. Reports prepared on such matters for the University Council (usually by the Vice-Chancellor and聽Amokapua P膩k膩kano | Assistant Vice-Chancellor M膩ori, Pacific and Equity) will be referred to the Advisory Board for comment and advice.
- To contribute on academic matters which have direct relevance to M膩ori curriculum content, delivery and research.
- To provide advice to the University on political and cultural matters that affect Christchurch and wider M膩ori communities.

The聽Amokapua P膩k膩kano | Assistant Vice-Chancellor M膩ori, Pacific and Equity will invite appropriate internal and external parties to Advisory Board meetings as necessary to provide additional advice and expertise. Meetings are held several times per year.
